During a private briefing with Argentine media at the Indian Embassy in Buenos Aires, Santhosha H., Chargé d’Affaires ad interim, presented in detail the Indian government’s position—under Prime Minister Narendra Modi—regarding the recent escalation of violence by Pakistan-based terrorists. The conflict was triggered by the April 22 terrorist attacks in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, carried out by Pakistani extremists, which resulted in the killing of 26 Hindu civilians.

Over a two-hour meeting, the senior diplomat shared documentation on Operation Sindoor, India’s military response that destroyed nine terrorist camps inside Pakistani territory and crippled 20% of Pakistan’s aerial infrastructure.

“India is a nation of peace, with a Buddhist foundation. Military action is always the last resort,” stated Santhosha, adding that “there is no intent to escalate the conflict.”

However, he was unequivocal in asserting that India will act resolutely in the face of any threat:

“If there is a terrorist attack on India, we will respond appropriately and on our own terms.”

The Three Pillars of the Modi Doctrine

Santhosha H. outlined the three guiding principles of India’s foreign and security policy in dealing with terrorism:

  1. Decisive Response on Indian Terms:
Every attack will be met with a calculated and firm response.

“We will not tolerate attacks on our territory without consequences.”

  2. Zero Tolerance for Nuclear Blackmail:
India will not submit to atomic threats.

“The use of nuclear weapons as a shield for terrorism is unacceptable and will be met with precision.”

  3. No Distinction Between Terrorists and Their Sponsors:
The Indian government holds both perpetrators and those who finance, harbor, or glorify terrorism equally accountable.

Operation Sindoor: Precision and Political Symbolism

The operation's name, "Sindoor", refers to the traditional red powder worn by married Hindu women. During the April 22 attacks, victims were asked about their religion before being executed. Many women lost their husbands, ceased wearing sindoor, and were left widowed.

According to official information, India struck 11 airbases in a single coordinated operation, delivering substantial damage—including the elimination of Squadron Leader Usman Yusuf and the destruction of key fighter aircraft.

The offensive was followed by a bilateral ceasefire, but India reported continued Pakistani drone infiltrations into both civilian and military zones. India responded by intercepting the drones and strengthening its defense systems.

India also suspended the Indus Waters Treaty, a vital resource for Pakistani agriculture; closed the Attari-Wagah border, halted bilateral trade, revoked visas for Pakistani nationals, and imposed a total ban on Pakistani artists from performing or exhibiting in India.

“The message is clear,” concluded Santhosha H.
“If terrorism is used as state policy, the response will be visible and decisive. Terrorists and their sponsors will face equal consequences.”
