The Caribbean Hotel and Tourism Association is highlighting its AI Guidebook Series and CHIEF 2026 programming as the region's hospitality industry moves from exploring artificial intelligence to putting it into practice.

World Tourism Day, celebrated on September 27 under the theme “Digital Agenda and Artificial Intelligence to Redesign Tourism,” is placing artificial intelligence at the center of the industry's next stage of transformation.

Across the Caribbean, the conversation is increasingly focused on how AI can deliver practical value: improving decision-making and productivity, strengthening workforce skills, protecting guest data and enhancing the distinctive experiences that define the region's tourism industry.

The Caribbean Hotel and Tourism Association (CHTA) is using World Tourism Day to highlight resources developed to help hospitality businesses navigate this transition and make informed decisions about the adoption of emerging technologies.

CHTA's AI Guidebook Series now includes three editions. Its latest publication, the AI Workforce Transformation Guide for Caribbean Hospitality, focuses on the practical implications of AI for employees and hospitality leaders, helping businesses identify realistic opportunities for adoption while preparing their teams for changing roles and responsibilities.

The guide is supported by practical tools covering implementation planning, governance, vendor evaluation, workforce readiness and return-on-investment assessment. These resources are designed to help businesses move beyond experimentation and evaluate where AI can generate measurable operational and commercial value.

“World Tourism Day puts a global spotlight on AI this year, but for the Caribbean hospitality industry the question is a very practical one: where can it create real value?” said CHTA President Sanovnik Destang. He emphasized that the opportunity is not simply about adopting new technology, but about using it thoughtfully to improve performance, strengthen people and enhance the guest experience.

The discussion will continue at CHIEF 2026, the Caribbean Hospitality Industry Exchange Forum, taking place November 16-18 in Barbados under the theme Caribbean Tourism 2030: Resilient. Regenerative. Ready.

Technology and artificial intelligence will be among the forum's six content pillars. Sessions will explore the AI-powered hospitality business and the use of AI across operations, guest experience and commercial growth.

For Caribbean tourism, the next stage of AI adoption will therefore involve more than technology itself. Workforce preparation, responsible implementation, data protection and maintaining the human connection that defines Caribbean hospitality will remain central to the industry's digital transformation.
