U.S. President Donald Trump said the United States has struck a dock facility along a shoreline where boats allegedly used for drug trafficking were “loading up,” as part of an escalating pressure campaign targeting maritime drug smuggling routes linked to Venezuela. However, U.S. authorities have provided few official details, and Trump stopped short of explicitly confirming that the strike took place inside Venezuelan territory.

Trump first alluded to the operation during an impromptu radio interview on Friday and later addressed the issue on Monday when questioned by reporters about what he described as “an explosion” near a coastal facility. Speaking in Florida during a meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Trump claimed the site was used to prepare boats accused of carrying drugs destined for the United States.

“There was a major explosion in the dock area where they load the boats up with drugs,” Trump said. “They load the boats up with drugs, so we hit all the boats and now we hit the area. It’s the implementation area. That is no longer around.”

The remarks signal a potential shift in U.S. tactics, bringing operations closer to shore after months of strikes carried out primarily in international waters in the Caribbean Sea and the eastern Pacific Ocean. The Trump administration has framed the campaign as part of a broader effort to disrupt maritime drug trafficking networks threatening U.S. national security.

On Monday, the U.S. military confirmed another strike against a boat accused of smuggling drugs in the eastern Pacific Ocean, an attack that reportedly killed two people. According to figures released by the Trump administration, at least 107 people have been killed in 30 strikes since early September.

Despite his comments, Trump declined to say whether the U.S. military or the CIA carried out the dock strike, nor did he disclose the exact location. He also avoided explicitly confirming that the incident occurred in Venezuela.

“I know exactly who it was, but I don’t want to say who it was,” Trump said. “But they know it was on the shore.”

Trump first referenced the alleged attack during a call to radio host John Catsimatidis on WABC, where he discussed recent U.S. actions against vessels accused of transporting narcotics.

“I don’t know if you read it or saw it, they have a big plant or a big facility where they send, you know, where the boats come from,” Trump said during the broadcast. “Two nights ago, we took it out. So we hit them very hard.”

The lack of official confirmation and specific details has raised questions internationally about the scope, legality, and geographic reach of the U.S. operations, particularly amid already strained relations with Venezuela.
