The Caribbean Hotel & Tourism Association (CHTA) highlights significant advocacy achievements during the first half of 2025. Through strong public-private partnerships, key victories include the reversal of a harmful tax reform bill in the Dominican Republic protecting hotel incentives, exemption from U.S. port fees on Chinese-built ships, and advancing renewable energy policy reforms.

Progress is also underway to reduce intra-Caribbean air travel taxes, boosting regional connectivity, with Barbados and Saint Lucia leading the way. CHTA has launched a regional policy repository to support smarter, coordinated advocacy efforts.

“These wins demonstrate the power of unified and informed action,” said CHTA President Sanovnik Destang, reaffirming the commitment to a stronger, more sustainable Caribbean tourism sector.
