Inter Miami CF and Royal Caribbean joined forces for the second time to grant the wishes of 23 children with critical illnesses
Messi, the sea, and the power of dreams: 23 wish kids experienced an unforgettable four-day journey between ocean and pitch during World Wish Month.
Some dreams take shape on land, others sail across the ocean. But when both worlds unite, something truly magical happens. In honor of World Wish Month, Inter Miami CF and their main partner Royal Caribbean joined forces once again with Make-A-Wish to fulfill the heartfelt dreams of 23 children with critical illnesses.
From April 12 to 15, these wish kids and their families enjoyed a life-changing experience that blended excitement, emotion, and unforgettable moments. Their journey began aboard Icon of the Seas — Royal Caribbean’s groundbreaking ship recently named one of TIME's World's Greatest Places. The day at sea included thrills at Category 6, the largest waterpark at sea, and the premiere of The Wizard of Oz, the first-ever Broadway-style production performed on a cruise.
The land portion of the journey was just as powerful. Families were welcomed at Chase Stadium, home of Inter Miami CF, where the children were treated like stars. Each was greeted with a personalized jersey signed by the team, gifts, a private suite at pitch level, and their name and photo displayed on the stadium screen — a moment few will ever forget.
There, they met soccer idols including Lionel Messi, Luis Suárez, Jordi Alba, and Sergio Busquets, among others. Each child walked through the players’ tunnel as an honorary Inter Miami CF player, sharing emotional moments with the squad and even taking a group photo with coach Javier Mascherano.
“We’re honored to join Make-A-Wish once again in creating special memories for these incredible children,” said Camila Jocelyn-Holt, Inter Miami’s Director of Community. “This experience with Royal Caribbean reflects our shared commitment to making a meaningful impact.”
This marks the second edition of Royal Caribbean’s Wishes at Sea program with Make-A-Wish, showcasing their long-term commitment to hope and healing through unforgettable travel.
According to Make-A-Wish, granting a wish has a lasting impact on a child’s mental and physical well-being. A 2022 survey showed that over 90% of doctors observed improvements in their patients’ emotional health post-wish — and 75% believed it could even enhance their physical health.
“Every hour, more than three children are diagnosed with a critical illness,” said Leslie Motter, President and CEO of Make-A-Wish America. “We’re grateful to partners like Royal Caribbean and Inter Miami CF for making these life-changing dreams come true.”
Fanatics, Make-A-Wish’s official sports partner, also contributed by providing personalized merchandise to each child.
From the sea to the stadium, this initiative reminds us that dreams have no limits — especially when hope, sports, and community come together.
