CHTA Appoints Two Young Leaders to Board and Executive Committee in Milestone Move
In a landmark decision for generational inclusion, the Caribbean Hotel and Tourism Association (CHTA) has appointed Yatsuri “Sue” Marshall, General Manager of Bay Gardens Marina Haven in Saint Lucia, and Mikael Doumeng, Director of Digital Marketing at Bolongo Bay Beach Resort in the U.S. Virgin Islands, to its Board of Directors for the 2025–2027 term.
Doumeng was also named to the Executive Committee, representing the association’s Young Leaders Program, which aims to empower emerging talent within the Caribbean hospitality sector. The appointments follow by-law changes passed in January 2025 that created formal pathways for young professionals to participate in high-level decision-making.
“These appointments represent more than a title—they signify action,” said Vanessa Ledesma, CEO of CHTA. “We’re delivering on our promise to elevate new voices at the leadership table.”
The Young Leaders Program was created to support the professional growth of young industry professionals, strengthen regional networks, and ensure their inclusion in strategic discussions.
“The long-term sustainability of our industry depends on young energy and fresh thinking,” said Sanovnik Destang, CHTA President. “We’re not just preparing the future—we’re strengthening Caribbean tourism today.”
