In a recent statement, Nicola Madden-Greig, President of the Caribbean Hotel and Tourism Association (CHTA), emphasized the significance of the Latin American market for Caribbean destinations. Madden-Greig stressed that "it is a growing area and we definitely need to improve air connectivity between the Caribbean and Latin America."

The President of the CHTA highlighted the existence of numerous "cultural synergies" between both regions, enhancing their tourism potential. "We feel that it is an important market," Madden-Greig stated, adding that the organization will continue to collaborate with strategic partners, specifically mentioning Copa Airlines and other stakeholders in the sector.

Madden-Greig pointed out the importance of providing information not only about the English-speaking Caribbean but also about the Spanish-speaking, French-speaking, and Dutch-speaking Caribbean. "It's for them and for us to demonstrate that we are a destination where you can have a diverse experience," she explained.

One of the highlighted objectives by the President of the CHTA is to promote interregional tourism. "We want them to experience the Caribbean in such a way that they can visit three, four, or five countries," Madden-Greig said, comparing this idea with the multi-destination trips that are common in Europe. To achieve this, the CHTA is working on improving connectivity between the Caribbean islands.

Recognizing the challenges faced by travel advisors, Madden-Greig emphasized the region's resilience and ongoing efforts to recover the tourism business. "We are resilient people who have worked hard and continue to monitor and ensure that, in the future, we have a comprehensive tourism experience."

The main Latin American source markets showing continuous growth include Colombia (+20%), Brazil (+12%), and Argentina (+9%).

Madden-Greig's statement underscores the commitment of the CHTA to strengthen ties between the Caribbean and Latin America, recognizing mutual potential and working towards a future of interconnected and enriching travel.
