The Icon of the Seas by Royal Caribbean sets a new standard in the way we travel
The Icon of the Seas from Royal Caribbean has arrived to revolutionize the way we travel, offering not just a cruise but a unique experience that promises to set a new standard in the family travel industry.
In an exclusive interview with Alberto Muñoz, Vice President of Royal Caribbean for Latin America, we were able to immerse ourselves in the unique experience offered by the company's new flagship, the 'Icon of the Seas.' A few months ago, Muñoz hinted that this ship would change the way we travel, and now, on the inaugural voyage, we can confirm that the promise has been fulfilled.
"We are on the inaugural voyage of the Icon of the Seas, and it's already a reality," Muñoz declared. This is not just a new ship; it's a new class of vessel designed to be a destination in itself. From the planning stage over seven years ago, the goal was clear: to become the place where the best family vacations on the planet could be enjoyed.
"The excitement is palpable among travel agents, journalists, and select guests participating in this inaugural event. 'This ship is not only the largest in size, but it also offers the greatest number of experiences on board, catering to everyone from the smallest family member at six months old to the grandfather,' highlighted Muñoz.
"The Icon of the Seas stands out with its eight neighborhoods, each with its own identity and unique offerings. This allows passengers to change the environment and enjoy different experiences, whether in gastronomy, entertainment, or relaxation. With 42 dining options, three spectacular shows, including 'The Wizard of Us' with a stage larger than any Broadway theater, and 28 types of cabins, 14 of which are entirely new for Royal Caribbean, customization of the experience is a reality.
'We want each passenger to be able to tailor their experience according to their preferences, the number of people, and the type of view they desire,' explained Muñoz. Additionally, the ship features seven types of pools, one for each day of the week, making the Icon itself the main destination of the journey.
"With regards to itineraries, Muñoz pointed out that although the Icon of the Seas undertakes 7-day cruises through the Eastern and Western Caribbean from Miami, travelers are more focused on the onboard experiences than specific destinations. 'The Icon becomes the destination itself. There is so much to do that passengers might not even disembark for 7 days and still not experience everything,' Muñoz explained.
"Royal Caribbean's Vice President also highlighted the presence of Lionel Messi in Miami, connecting it with the brand's multifamily philosophy. 'We are proud to be in this partnership with the football icon and share the importance of spending time with family, something that fits perfectly with our vision.'
