Meeting between the Argentine Chancellor Diana Mondino and the Indian Ambassador Dinesh Bhatia
The Argentine Chancellor, Diana Mondino, held a significant meeting at the Foreign Ministry with the Ambassador of India, Dinesh Bhatia, with the aim of strengthening bilateral ties between the two countries.
During the meeting, Chancellor Mondino discussed the measures taken by the new Argentine government to stabilize and liberalize the economy, emphasizing the prospects for substantial growth in trade between Argentina and India. She also expressed Argentina's interest in diversifying its exports to India and encouraging investments from the country.
Ambassador Bhatia, in turn, underscored the importance of India as a trading partner for Argentina and mentioned various sectors where Indian presence is evident in Argentine territory, including defense, energy, telecommunications, pharmaceuticals, and satellite industry. Additionally, he highlighted India's interest in expanding its presence into other economic sectors in Argentina, specifically mentioning hydrocarbons, lithium, and railways.
Bhatia recalled the upcoming celebration of the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations in 2024 and extended a warm invitation to Chancellor Mondino to visit India on that occasion.
Finally, the ambassador expressed India's intention to broaden the scope of the existing agreement with MERCOSUR. Chancellor Mondino welcomed this proposal and highlighted progress in negotiations between the South American bloc and the European Union and EFTA, as well as the recent agreement with Singapore.
This meeting reaffirms the commitment of both nations to strengthen their bilateral relations and explore new opportunities for cooperation in various fields.
