Ambassador Florencia Miao-hung Hsie, Director of the Taipei Commercial and Cultural Office in Buenos Aires and diplomat representing her country's interests in Argentina, gave a speech referring to the letter she sent a few days ago to Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus , WHO Director General.

The text states: "With a cordial and attentive greeting, I address you on behalf of the Taiwanese overseas community in Argentina and together with the signatory members of this letter with the purpose of expressing our fervent demand that the World Health Organization recognize the importance and urgency of the full participation of the ROC Taiwan in the global health system and invite Taiwan to participate, as an observer, in the 76th World Health Assembly this year 2023 and in all meetings" .

Taking into account that the 76th World Health Assembly will be held in Geneva (Switzerland) from May 21 to 30, 2023, the Taipei Commercial and Cultural Office in Buenos Aires is carrying out a campaign through social networks to channel all the support they receive. Proposing 4 Hashtags, Taiwan seeks to make this fair claim visible. They are #TaiwanCanHelp , #LetTaiwanHelp, #LetTaiwanIn, #WHONeedsTaiwan.

The meeting that took place at the Taiwanese Civil Association in Argentina. Members of the community and prominent health representatives were present, such as: Dr. Juan Antonio Mazzei, President of the National Academy of Medicine, Dr. Carlos Amanquez, Associate Director of Hospital Fernández and Rubén Lastra, President of the Argentine Federation of Nursing, among many other personalities.

"Taiwan is a nation of 23.5 million people that has not only been recognized by the international community for its performance in the fight against the pandemic, its humanitarian assistance and cooperation with various countries, but is also an indispensable partner that collaborates with the world to promote economic recovery in the post-pandemic period", says the ambassador.

In his letter to the WHO, he says "We would not want the right to health of the citizens of such a caring and diligent country to be endangered, as this would not only mean a loss to the rights of Taiwan and its citizens but also to the 7.7 billion human beings around the world".

In the final paragraph he states: "Your Excellency, Director General, viruses do not understand politics or borders, we make a solemn and sincere appeal to the WHO, which plays a leading role in global political health issues, to express the prevailing need for Taiwan to participate regularly in the affairs of the WHO in order to be able to fulfill the expectations of its constitution that health is a fundamental right of every human being without distinction of race, religion, political ideology or social economic condition."

Coincidentally and with the general support of those present at today's event, they reaffirmed that for all the above "we respectfully suggest that you urgently take the concrete and necessary actions to invite Taiwan to participate as an observer in the World Assembly of Health and that allows their regular and systematic participation in all the meetings and activities and mechanisms of the WHO as well as Taiwan will be able to contribute together with the other countries in the Health of humanity and in the strengthening of global governance of the public health".
