Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan’s new film Pathaan under Hindu nationalist fire.
Trouble erupted when clips featured Hindu actress Deepika Padukone in a saffron-coloured bikini, a colour the ruling pro-Hindu BJP party claims as its own.

Deepika Padukone's orange bikini came under attack with protesters taking to the streets and burning posters and effigies of SRK in parts of the country. There were demands made that the sequence be cut from the song. However, the orange bikini continued to be a part of the Besharam Rang song, which has received a UA certificate from the censor board.

A day after he refused to comment on the violent protests against the film Pathaan in Assam's Narengi and asked 'who is Shah Rukh Khan', the Bollywood superstar who stars in the film, Assam's Prime Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, He said he received a call from Khan at 2 am and has assured him of peace.

"Bollywood actor Shri @iamsrk called me and we talked today morning at 2 am. He expressed concern about an incident in Guwahati during screening of his film. I assured him that it’s duty of state govt to maintain law & order. We’ll enquire and ensure no such untoward incidents," Assam CM wrote on Twitter.

On Saturday, when Himanta Sarma was asked about Pathaan posters burned in Guwahati theaters by Bajrang Dal activists, Assam CM said, "Who is Shah Rukh Khan? I don't know anything about him or his film Pathaan."

The Pathaan dispute has received a lot of attention in the media. In fact, every international news station covered the Besharam Rang incident, in which politicians and religious leaders discussed how Deepika Padukone's orange bikini offended Hindu feelings. Saffron (Bhagwa), as we all know, is connected with Hindutva and the Hindu faith.

There has been a wide spread push to boycott the film. According to reports, Gujarat multiplex owners have requested government action after receiving threats not to screen the film. According to reports, Prime Minister Narendra Modi cautioned Bharatiya Janata Party members and leaders on Tuesday not to make unnecessary statements on trivial matters such as movies. This notice comes amid problems surrounding Bollywood films.
