Republican Kevin McCarthy was elected speaker of the US House of Representatives early Saturday after making sweeping concessions to a group of right-wing radicals who raised questions about the party's ability to govern.

The Republican Kevin McCarthy was finally elected this Saturday president of the United States House of Representatives after 15 votes, after convincing a sufficient number of ultra congressmen from his own party who refused to support him.

The abstention of six rebellious Republicans paved the way shortly after midnight for the election of McCarthy as speaker of the chamber with 216 votes, after four grueling days that came to an end today with this victory that put an end to the chaos experienced in the US Congress.

As in the previous vote and unlike the first thirteen, the Radical Republicans did not present any alternative candidates to McCarthy, who fought in this last round with the leader of the Democrats in the chamber, Hakeem Jeffries, who received 212 votes at the time. the same as in the previous rounds.

In this final vote, six ultra-republicans abstained, paving the way for McCarthy's election, by reducing the number of votes he needed to be elected.

After his election, Kevin McCarthy defiantly faced the Democrats and the country's president, Joe Biden, in his opening speech at the 118th legislature of Congress.

McCarthy began joking with an ironic "this was easy, huh?", referring to the arduousness of his election, and immediately warned that "it is time" to monitor and provide "a balance" to Biden's policies , who minutes before had extended his hand to collaborate in a statement

"There is nothing more important than making it possible for American families to live and enjoy the lives they deserve, and that is why we are committed to stopping Washington's wasteful spending to lower the price of food, gas, housing, and stop the increase in the national debt," he listed.
