This Saturday the Aztec country suffered a quake in Oaxaca. Authorities say there were no fatalities, but they decided to suspend rescue efforts momentarily, for security reasons.

Mexicans dawned with fear, at 07:53 a.m. (local time) a new earthquake shook the same regions affected by the earthquake 8.2 registered last September 7. This time it was an earthquake of magnitude 6.1, whose epicenter was located 7 kilometers west of Union Hidalgo, in the southern state of Oaxaca, where at the beginning of the month 98 people lost their lives.

The earthquake comes just four days after another powerful earthquake of 7.1 caused around 300 casualties, according to the National Seismological Service (SSN). The alarm sounded almost a minute before the tremor could be felt in Mexico City, allowing many citizens to leave their homes and repeat the images of September 19.

However, this time the quake was hardly felt in the largest city in the country due to the remoteness of its epicenter. The city authorities activated the revision protocols in Mexico City, which continues the work of rescue and removal of debris. In Oaxaca, on the other hand, the tremor felt much stronger, but state authorities indicated that no damage has been reported so far.

The director of the National Center for Disaster Prevention, Carlos Valdés, said that the quake was a replica of what happened on September 7. Due to the "magnitude" of the earthquake, he said, "it can generate replicas like the one we have seen today." Meanwhile, the Presidency called "the whole population to remain calm".

In addition to the suspension of rescue work between structures demolished in the capital by the earthquake on Tuesday, where there are believed to be more than 30 people under the rubble, now there is also concern about the dozens of buildings that were seriously damaged by that earthquake, many of them to collapse points. The rescue work in the damaged buildings in Mexico City, but quickly were resumed.
