Some matches of the T20 Cricket World Cup and the Copa America will take place in this city very soon, while eagerly awaiting to be a host for matches of the FIFA World Cup 2026.

During IPW 24, we had the privilege of speaking with Glen G. Allen, Vice President of Sports and Entertainment at Visit Lauderdale, who shared exciting details about the upcoming major sports events that will further enrich this tourist destination, renowned for its spectacular beaches, exquisite cuisine, and unparalleled entertainment.

"Big international events will be held in the coming years in Fort Lauderdale. We are honored to be one of the three host cities of the T20 Cricket World Cup, which will be held this summer. This will be the first time this event takes place in the United States, which is extremely exciting. It will kick off on June 11 in Fort Lauderdale, at the Hard Rock Stadium. Additionally, the Copa America will also add excitement to the sports scene, with three matches scheduled at this same stadium," Allen said.

"Looking ahead to the future, in 2026, Fort Lauderdale has the potential to be a key venue for the FIFA World Cup. We eagerly anticipate the possibility of hosting some of the group stage matches, including possibly matches with teams like Argentina and Uruguay. This upcoming triennium promises intense activity of international events that will further boost the appeal of our city as a top-tier sports destination," Allen added with enthusiasm.
