During Tourism Awareness Month 2026, the Grenada Tourism Authority is highlighting the role of technology in strengthening the tourism industry while protecting the people, culture and natural environment that define the destination.

Artificial intelligence and digital innovation are becoming increasingly important tools for building a more sustainable and resilient tourism industry. In Grenada, this vision is at the heart of Tourism Awareness Month 2026, which emphasizes the importance of embracing new technologies while preserving the people, cultural heritage and natural beauty that make the destination unique.

In this context, Kirl Grant-Hoschtialek, Chief Operating Officer and Acting Chief Executive Officer of the Grenada Tourism Authority, highlighted the importance of investing in people, strengthening local businesses and leveraging artificial intelligence and digital solutions to support the transformation of the tourism sector.

The approach positions technological innovation not as an end in itself, but as a tool to improve the industry's competitiveness while generating broader benefits for local communities. Digital solutions can help optimize processes, strengthen destination management and respond to the changing expectations of travelers.

At the same time, the Grenada Tourism Authority's message stresses that tourism development must go hand in hand with protecting the destination's defining assets: its cultural identity, local communities and natural environment.

The vision takes an inclusive approach to the archipelago, encompassing Grenada, Carriacou and Petite Martinique. The goal is to ensure that tourism creates greater economic and social opportunities across these communities, strengthens local businesses and supports an industry better prepared to adapt to future challenges.

The initiative reflects an increasingly relevant direction for Caribbean destinations: combining technology, sustainability and community development to create tourism models that do more than attract visitors. They also seek to deliver lasting value and improve opportunities for the people who call these islands home.
