Honduras removes visa requirements for UK citizens to boost tourism and strengthen its presence at WTM London 2026
Since October 31, 2026, British citizens can travel to Honduras without a consular visa. The measure also covers holders of British National (Overseas) passports from Hong Kong and people originating from British Overseas Territories. Honduras highlighted this new travel facilitation as part of its tourism promotion strategy at the World Travel Market (WTM) London 2026.
Honduras is strengthening its position in the British tourism market following a decision to eliminate consular visa requirements for citizens of the United Kingdom, a measure aimed at making travel easier and creating new opportunities to attract international visitors.
Effective October 31, 2026, British citizens can enter Honduras without a consular visa, according to Agreement No. 005-SG-2026, published in the country's official gazette, La Gaceta. The measure also extends to holders of British National (Overseas) passports from Hong Kong and people originating from British Overseas Territories.
The decision seeks to remove entry barriers for British travelers and strengthen Honduras' competitiveness in an international market known for its travelers' high spending levels and longer stays. It is also aligned with the objectives of the country's 2026–2030 Government Plan.
This new visa exemption was highlighted during Honduras' participation in the World Travel Market (WTM) London 2026, one of the leading global tourism industry events, where the country is promoting its destinations, strengthening commercial relationships and seeking new business opportunities across the European market.
The inauguration of the Honduran exhibition space was led by Deputy Minister of Tourism Tania Castellanos, alongside Honduras' Ambassador to the United Kingdom, Iván Romero Martínez, and representatives of the country's tourism business sector.
Honduras is presenting a diverse tourism offering to British travelers, including world-class birdwatching opportunities featuring iconic species such as the quetzal, the scarlet macaw and the endemic Honduran emerald hummingbird.
The country's attractions also include diving experiences in Roatán, Utila and Guanaja, located along the Mesoamerican Reef System; the archaeological site of Copán, a UNESCO World Heritage Site; as well as coffee routes, ecotourism and adventure activities.
The promotional presentation also featured Honduran coffee through Ulúa Coffee, which offered tastings to visitors and showcased the quality and tradition of one of the country's most representative products.
Through its participation in WTM London and the elimination of visa requirements for British citizens, Honduras aims to strengthen its visibility in the United Kingdom, expand partnerships with tour operators and industry professionals, and attract more European visitors.
