Bucuti & Tara Brings Its Sustainable Hospitality Model to CHIEF 2026 with Crescenzia Biemans
The managing director of Aruba’s Bucuti & Tara Beach Resort and Tara Eco Supplies will join the Caribbean Hotel & Tourism Association gathering in Barbados, sharing her perspective on integrating sustainability into the daily operations of hospitality businesses.
Sustainability is no longer an additional concept for the tourism industry; it has become a strategic element of hotel management and business development. With this vision, Crescenzia Biemans, managing director of Bucuti & Tara Beach Resort and Tara Eco Supplies in Aruba, will participate as a speaker at CHIEF 2026, the Caribbean Hotel & Tourism Association (CHTA) forum taking place November 16–18 at the Wyndham Grand Barbados Sam Lord's Castle Resort.
Biemans brings a multidisciplinary perspective that combines hospitality leadership, environmental advocacy and academic expertise in areas including law, economics, psychology and artificial intelligence. She also serves on the board of the Aruba Hotel & Tourism Association and is a trustee of the Caribbean Alliance for Sustainable Tourism, contributing to the advancement of responsible tourism practices across the region.
Her participation will bring an important question to the forefront of discussions: how can sustainability principles become tangible business decisions, shaping hotel operations, investment strategies and long-term management?
Bucuti & Tara: A hospitality model built around environmental responsibility
Biemans' participation also highlights the experience of Bucuti & Tara Beach Resort, an adults-only property overlooking Aruba's Eagle Beach, internationally recognized for combining upscale hospitality, wellness and environmental protection.
Founded by Ewald Biemans, the resort describes itself as the Caribbean's first and only CarbonNeutral® resort. It has earned several environmental certifications, including Green Globe Platinum, Travelife Gold and LEED Gold. Its sustainability strategy includes initiatives to reduce the environmental impact of daily operations, from energy efficiency to the protection of natural ecosystems.
Among its initiatives is the Bucuti & Tara GMC Nature Preserve, a 32-acre natural area dedicated to environmental conservation. In 2025, the resort celebrated the planting of its 1,200th tree as part of its ongoing conservation efforts.
Its commitment also extends to food and beverage operations and guest services. At Elements Restaurant, the introduction of electric equipment helped reduce energy consumption by 18%, while the property continues to advance toward more efficient operations.
These environmental commitments complement a hospitality experience focused on romance, wellness and a connection with nature. In 2026, Bucuti & Tara earned further international recognition at the Tripadvisor Travelers' Choice Awards, ranking eighth among the world's best hotels and first in the Caribbean for the second consecutive year.
Crescenzia Biemans' contribution to CHIEF 2026 will offer an opportunity to share a business experience demonstrating that environmental responsibility can be embedded in the core of hotel operations while becoming a meaningful competitive advantage for Caribbean destinations.
CHIEF 2026 will take place November 16–18 in Barbados, bringing together tourism professionals, business leaders and industry representatives to discuss the challenges and opportunities shaping Caribbean tourism.
