As part of the Saint Lucia Showcase International’s corporate social responsibility agenda, journalists, representatives of wholesale travel agencies, commercial partners and the entire EM Marketing & Communication team took part in a solidarity initiative at the New Beginnings Transit Home in Beausejour, Saint Lucia.

The initiative aimed to bring the tourism sector closer to the local community and create a meaningful connection with an institution that provides protection, care and support to children facing particularly vulnerable circumstances. During the visit, the group was warmly welcomed by Maria St. Paul and Janay Dupray, who shared insights into the important work carried out at the home on a daily basis.

The New Beginnings Transit Home is a temporary residential safe space for children between the ages of 2 and 16 who have experienced severe abuse or neglect and require protection and care. The home provides a secure and nurturing environment, supporting the children’s physical, emotional and spiritual development during their period of transition.

The institution also works closely with the National Foster Care and Adoption Services, with the aim of helping children return to safe and loving family environments whenever circumstances allow. The home operates as part of Saint Lucia’s Division of Human Services and Family Affairs.

The solidarity initiative was included in the agenda of the Saint Lucia Showcase International, which brought together tourism professionals, international and local media, travel industry representatives and commercial partners. The visit offered participants an opportunity to gain a closer understanding of an important part of Saint Lucia’s community life while sharing a meaningful experience focused on social commitment.

For EM Marketing & Communication, as well as the journalists and tourism representatives who took part, the experience went far beyond an institutional visit. It was an opportunity to understand how tourism can build stronger connections with local communities and support initiatives aimed at improving the lives of those who are most vulnerable.

The visit to New Beginnings Transit Home therefore left a meaningful message within the Showcase program: promoting a destination also means getting to know and supporting its communities, particularly when it comes to protecting and supporting children who need it most.
