New Orleans Strengthens Its Position as a Global Culinary Leader with the 2026 Bocuse d’Or Americas
Honduran journalist Henning Kretschmer, director of Vivir de Viaje magazine and editorial partner of ABC Mundial, provided special coverage of the prestigious culinary competition that brought together the best chefs from across the continent on their journey to the grand world final in Lyon 2027.
New Orleans once again became the global stage for international gastronomy by hosting the Bocuse d’Or Americas 2026 for the second consecutive time, one of the world’s most prestigious culinary competitions, where the leading talents from across the Americas showcased creativity, technique, and passion for cuisine.
Honduran journalist Henning Kretschmer, director of Vivir de Viaje magazine and editorial partner of ABC Mundial, was present throughout the event, providing special coverage from New Orleans while closely following the competition, the participating teams, and all activities surrounding this celebration of gastronomy.

The event brought together representatives from the United States, Canada, Mexico, Colombia, Ecuador, Brazil, Chile, and Argentina, all competing for five spots in the prestigious global final that will take place in Lyon, France, in 2027.
After an exciting day of high-level culinary excellence, the United States claimed first place, Canada earned the silver medal, and Colombia achieved third place. Mexico and Argentina completed the five qualifying positions that will allow them to represent the Americas at the world final in France.
During the competition, additional awards recognized Mexico for the best plate presentation, Chile for the best platter, and Colombian contestant Laura Osorio as the best commis of the competition.
Beyond the culinary talent, New Orleans once again showcased its unique identity to the world, shaped by French, Spanish, African, Creole, and Cajun influences that have made Louisiana one of the most renowned gastronomic destinations on the planet.
