Pompano Beach Attracts International Tourism with Nature, Culture, and Family-Friendly Experiences
As part of IPW 2026, the most important tourism promotion event in the United States, ABC MUNDIAL spoke with Rita Wells, Tourism Marketing Manager for the City of Pompano Beach, who highlighted the destination’s growing international appeal and its commitment to relaxed, family-oriented tourism filled with unique experiences.
Located less than 13 kilometers north of Fort Lauderdale, Pompano Beach is emerging as an increasingly attractive alternative for travelers seeking sun, sea, and family-friendly activities away from the faster pace of other Florida tourism destinations.
“Pompano Beach has a relaxed coastal vibe and is a very family-friendly destination. We have wide white-sand beaches and waterfront restaurants that offer a truly special experience,” Wells explained during the interview.
One of the city’s most surprising attractions is the Jellyfish Museum, the only museum in the United States dedicated exclusively to jellyfish. Visitors can discover more than 25 different species while learning about their habitats and behavior.
The city is also strongly focused on adventure tourism and water activities. Rita Wells highlighted the renowned Underwater Shipwreck Park, an underwater attraction featuring sunken ships and artistic sculptures that has become a must-see experience for diving enthusiasts.
“We have an incredible underwater park with sculptures and sunken ships, plus 18 natural shipwrecks in the ocean to explore while diving,” she said.
Pompano Beach’s tourism offerings also include fishing, snorkeling, water sports, outdoor concerts, jazz festivals, and a diverse cultural scene. Among the city’s most modern attractions is Topgolf, an entertainment experience that combines technology and recreation around golf.
“It’s a fun activity for the entire family. It’s not traditional golf — it’s an interactive gaming experience,” Wells commented.
Another feature highlighted by the tourism representative was the presence of a smoke-free casino, an amenity increasingly valued by both international and domestic visitors.
During IPW 2026, Pompano Beach attracted strong interest from tour operators and media representatives from several international markets. Wells confirmed meetings with representatives from Argentina, Colombia, Peru, the United Kingdom, Ireland, and Jordan, among others.
The executive also expressed optimism regarding a potential inclusion of Argentina in the Visa Waiver Program, which would make travel to the United States easier for Argentine tourists.
“We’re keeping our fingers crossed. We want to welcome them and invite everyone to come to Pompano Beach,” she said enthusiastically.
With a combination of peaceful beaches, unique attractions, active tourism, and a strong cultural focus, Pompano Beach aims to establish itself as one of the most attractive emerging destinations in South Florida for international travelers.
