The Minister of Tourism, Civil Aviation, Transportation and Investment of Antigua and Barbuda, Henry Charles Fernandez, officially welcomed participants to the Caribbean Travel Marketplace 2026 during the opening ceremony held at the Cedar Valley Golf Course, highlighting the importance of regional cooperation and the strength of the Caribbean tourism industry in the face of global challenges.

Addressing government officials, tour operators, investors, travel agents, airlines, and hospitality representatives from across the region, Fernandez said the Caribbean continues to demonstrate “extraordinary resilience, innovation, and determination,” even amid an international environment shaped by shifting travel dynamics and economic challenges.

“The Caribbean tourism sector continues to strengthen thanks to a shared commitment to collaboration and excellence,” he said, also underscoring the strategic role of the Caribbean Hotel and Tourism Association as a driving force behind regional tourism growth.

During his remarks, the minister celebrated that Antigua and Barbuda had once again been chosen as the host destination for this major B2B tourism trade event, where key meetings, new business partnerships, and industry growth opportunities will take place over the coming days.

Fernandez also invited international delegates to experience the hospitality of Antigua and Barbuda, its culture, cuisine, and music, noting that the event represents not only a business conference but also a celebration of Caribbean identity and excellence.

The opening night featured a festive atmosphere under the Caribbean sky, with live music, local flavors, and networking among regional and international tourism leaders, further reinforcing the Caribbean Travel Marketplace as one of the most important platforms for tourism promotion and commercial exchange in the region.
