Mahahual, Mexico — March 26, 2026 — Royal Caribbean announced a strategic partnership with Maritime Procurement Services (MPS) to operate a state-of-the-art solid waste management facility in Mahahual, Quintana Roo. This marks the first installation of its kind in southern Quintana Roo, setting new standards for responsible waste management and advancing a circular economy model that converts waste into valuable resources.

The new facility will feature advanced sorting technologies, closed-loop processing systems, high-efficiency material recovery, and top-tier environmental controls. These innovations are designed to optimize waste management, reduce landfill dependency, and minimize environmental impact, strengthening local infrastructure and protecting the unique ecosystems of the Mexican Caribbean.

Ari Adler, President of Royal Caribbean Group Mexico, emphasized the importance of partnering with a trusted local operator like MPS to ensure lasting benefits for the community and surrounding ecosystems. “Together, we are taking tangible steps to protect the ecosystems and communities that make the Mexican Caribbean so special,” Adler stated.
