Heidi Gómez, the Chargé d’Affaires of the United States Embassy, visited the Visit USA booth at FIT 2025
Buenos Aires, Argentina – As part of the 2025 International Tourism Fair (FIT), Heidi Gómez Rápalo, Chargé d’Affaires of the United States Embassy, visited the Visit USA booth to discuss tourism exchange opportunities between both countries and highlight the role of tourism in strengthening bilateral ties.
During her remarks, Gómez Rápalo emphasized that next year the United States will host the FIFA World Cup, allowing even more Argentinians to experience not only the traditional U.S. coasts but also other cities across the country, broadening their travel experience and promoting cultural diversity.
"Traveling to another country also allows friendships to be built and relationships to deepen. That’s why our work is so important, as we contribute to strengthening the bilateral relationship between Argentina and the United States," the diplomat stated.
Gómez Rápalo also highlighted the economic impact of tourism: "Economically, tourism is a major driver of development and employment. We want to see more Argentinians traveling to the United States, and we hope our fellow citizens also take advantage of the wonderful opportunity to discover Argentina."
Reception at the VisitUSA Booth
During her visit to the VisitUSA booth (booth 3420), Heidi Gómez Rápalo was welcomed by the VisitUSA Argentina Committee, made up of leading representatives from the tourism sector. Among them were Jimena Naón (VisitUSA Argentina Committee) and Diana Brandon (U.S. Embassy Commercial Section in Argentina). Also present were the committee president and exhibitors from companies such as Alamo Rent a Car, Fort Lauderdale, Hertz, Puerto Rico, Galaxy Vacation, Discover Destination, and Kissimmee, along with sponsors Starbucks and Hard Rock Café.
The delegation included prominent figures in Argentine tourism, such as Juan Toselli (Juan Toselli Int. Tours), Secretary Alberto Sánchez Lavalle (Ladevi Argentina), and Fabiana Cálcena, among other committee members. This reception reinforced collaboration between the U.S. Embassy and the local tourism industry, consolidating the promotion of the U.S. as a destination for Argentine travelers.
The U.S. representative’s visit to the booth reaffirms the commitment of both nations to tourism promotion and cultural cooperation, recognizing tourism as a strategic tool to strengthen relationships, create jobs, and stimulate economic growth.
Through this participation, the United States Embassy in Argentina continues to support travel agents, tour operators, and the tourism industry in general, promoting the United States as an accessible, diverse, and safe destination for Argentine travelers.
