Scuba-Clad Thief Steals Up to $20,000 From Disney Springs Restaurant
In a story that seems pulled straight from a Hollywood script, the Orange County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a late-night robbery at Paddlefish, one of Disney Springs’ most iconic restaurants in Lake Buena Vista, Florida.
According to newly released incident reports, the bizarre burglary happened just after midnight on Monday, September 15, 2025. A man dressed head-to-toe in black scuba gear and wearing goggles reportedly swam up to the back of Paddlefish, entered the restaurant, and confronted two employees as they were counting cash in the manager’s office.
Authorities say the suspect ordered the employees to get down and close their eyes before tying them up. In less than two minutes, he fled with between $10,000 and $20,000 in cash. No weapons were used, and the victims were unharmed physically, though shaken by the incident.
Surveillance footage released by the Orange County Sheriff’s Office shows a person in wetsuit-like clothing and goggles inside the restaurant. Deputies are still searching for the suspect and have not released additional details.
Paddlefish, known for its riverboat-style architecture and prime location at Disney Springs’ The Landing, has become the focus of a high-profile investigation that underscores the unexpected ways crime can surface, even in one of the world’s most visited entertainment districts.
