Tourism Industry in South Florida Has a New Reason to Celebrate: Stacy Ritter Named “Hospitality Legend of the Year” by HSMAI South Florida

Stacy Ritter, President and CEO of Visit Lauderdale, has been honored as the “Hospitality Legend of the Year” by the Hospitality Sales and Marketing Association International (HSMAI), South Florida Chapter.

The distinction, officially announced by HSMAI South Florida, recognizes Ritter’s outstanding contributions to positioning Fort Lauderdale as a premier international tourist destination. Her leadership at the helm of the region’s destination marketing organization has been key to the transformation of the destination in recent years.

Over Two Decades of Service to Tourism and the Community

Since 2016, Stacy Ritter has led Visit Lauderdale, the official destination marketing organization for the region. Her career began in public service, where she served as a Florida State Representative, Broward County Commissioner, and later as Mayor of the County. This background has enabled her to build bridges between economic development, culture, and tourism in the area.

Ritter also plays an active role in prominent national organizations such as the U.S. Travel Association, the Greater Fort Lauderdale Alliance, the Museum of Discovery and Science, and the influential Orange Bowl Committee, reinforcing her profile as a key figure in U.S. tourism.

HSMAI praised Ritter’s “strategic vision, tireless advocacy for the destination, and positive impact on the hospitality industry both locally and nationally.” Under her leadership, Fort Lauderdale has not only increased its global visibility but has also strengthened its image as an inclusive, diverse destination filled with authentic experiences.

The award ceremony will take place on October 30, 2025, during the 40th Annual HSMAI South Florida Gala at the Margaritaville Hollywood Beach Resort.
