During the first day of Peru Travel Mart 2024, Maritza Montero, president of the event, emphasized the importance of this fair for the development and positioning of tourism in Peru. In her statements, Montero highlighted that Peru Travel Mart has become the most important B2B tourism event in the country and aims to establish itself as a platform with global impact.

"We want to elevate this event to a worldwide position by offering culture, history, gastronomy, and a variety of products so that tourists can enjoy the coast, mountains, and jungle of Peru," Montero declared.

The president also stressed the collaboration between the public and private sectors, as well as the fundamental role of the National Chamber of Tourism of Peru and other stakeholders in enhancing the country's tourism offerings. According to Montero, the unity between these sectors is key to the growth and strengthening of tourism, not only during events like Peru Travel Mart but also in the ongoing development of the Peruvian destination.

Regarding the profile of tourists interested in Peru, Montero mentioned a wide range of segments, from corporate and luxury tourism to gastronomic, wedding, and meetings tourism. "Meetings tourism is gaining significant momentum and generates substantial revenue for the country," she added.

Montero also highlighted the importance of working together with other Latin American countries to attract tourists from distant regions such as Asia and Europe. The president referred to the possibility of presenting South America as a tourist block, emphasizing the connectivity between countries to facilitate travel within the region.

With a clear goal of reaching 4 million visitors again by 2025, Montero pointed out advancements in infrastructure, such as the expansion of Jorge Chávez International Airport and the development of the Chancay port, as fundamental steps to improve connectivity and attract more international tourists.

Organized by CANATUR and supported by the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Tourism (MINCETUR) through Promperú, Peru Travel Mart solidifies its position as a professional space for business generation and the promotion of Peruvian tourist destinations on the international stage.

Peru Travel Mart 2024 thus stands as a key platform for promoting tourism in Peru and South America, showcasing the country’s cultural and natural wealth, as well as its hospitality and capacity to welcome visitors from around the world.
