The Tourist Office has presented the highly anticipated program for the Gastronomy Festival, which will be held from November 11 to 22. The event includes new activities and a special focus on guavaberry, the iconic local fruit. With a variety of culinary experiences, workshops, and competitions, the festival blends tradition and modernity in a paradise setting.
The fourth edition of the Saint-Martin Gastronomic Festival will take place from November 11 to 22, 2024, and promises to be a true feast for the senses. Organized by the Saint-Martin Tourist Office, this event will bring together world-renowned chefs and local talents in a celebration space that highlights the best of Caribbean and global cuisine.
During the 11 days of the festival, locals and tourists can enjoy a wide range of culinary experiences. The program includes cooking classes for all ages, where both children and adults can learn to create traditional dishes with local ingredients, such as the iconic guavaberry. Additionally, collaborative dinners will be held, where chefs will come together to create unique menus, pairing food with exotic cocktails in a luxurious seaside setting.
The festival will also feature competitions celebrating the region's culinary talent, such as a barbecue contest on Rue de la République in Marigot and a mixology tournament, where participants will compete to create the most innovative cocktail using native Caribbean flavors. One of the most anticipated events will be the food truck competition, showcasing the versatility of local street food and its fusion with international influences.
Among the festival's most unique experiences will be "Taste of Sunrise," a beachside breakfast accompanied by live music, where attendees can savor typical dishes while watching the sunrise. The Gastronomy Village, located on the Marigot waterfront, will offer visitors the chance to sample a wide range of specialties from the island's most prestigious restaurants. There will also be a charity night, where local chefs and students from Lycée Daniella Jeffry will collaborate on preparing a special dinner, with funds going towards promoting youth culinary talent.
This year, the festival will feature a special guest: Julien Chauvenet, the chef who won the World Burger Contest 2023. Director of three gourmet burger restaurants in Dijon, Chauvenet returns to Saint-Martin to present a unique proposal of Caribbean-inspired burgers. With his creativity and skill, Chauvenet blends exotic ingredients such as mango and cherries, creating an unparalleled culinary experience that reflects the richness of the region's flavors. His participation is especially anticipated as he has previously worked on the island and has always demonstrated his passion for local culinary culture.
The chef expresses his excitement to once again represent the "Friendly Island" and assures that his exclusive creations will not disappoint. He will be joined by other renowned international chefs, who together will transform the festival into a celebration of Saint-Martin and the Caribbean's culinary tradition.
The Saint-Martin Gastronomy Festival is much more than a culinary event; it is an opportunity to experience the island's cultural diversity through its flavors. From activities such as cooking classes to culinary competitions and guavaberry rum tastings, the festival offers something for every taste, whether you're a food lover or a curious explorer seeking new experiences.
