The Ambassador of Taiwan in Argentina emphasized the importance of international cooperation to defend democracy worldwide
After the conference "Taiwan Facing China's Penetration Strategy: Challenges and Responses in Latin America," organized by the Federalism and Liberty Foundation at the University of CEMA (UCEMA), Taiwan's Ambassador to Argentina, Florencia Miao-hung Hsie, expressed her satisfaction and reflections on the topics discussed at the forum.
The conference featured Kwo-Wei Kung, Director of the Center for Latin American Studies at Tamkang University (Taiwan), who provided a detailed analysis of the challenges Taiwan faces due to China's growing influence in the region. After listening to the presentations, Ambassador Hsie stated:
"I believe this forum has been enriching and exceptional. The speakers have conducted an in-depth analysis and offered an excellent perspective on the subject. I was greatly inspired because, according to their presentations, it has become very clear that today autocracies are not just a problem for one particular country; they are a challenge to democratic values."
The ambassador underscored Taiwan's commitment to defending these fundamental values, stating:
"Taiwan is committed to working alongside like-minded democratic countries to defend the values of democracy and freedom, and the rules-based international order."
She also thanked the event organizers for the invitation, highlighting the importance of the contributions made during the day:
"Today, it is an honor and a pleasure to have been invited by the Federalism and Liberty Foundation and UCEMA. The speakers have provided us with very valuable perspectives and concrete proposals, but I believe that implementing these solutions requires international cooperation."
Finally, Hsie emphasized the need to strengthen collaboration among democratic countries to address common challenges:
"It is through discussions like today's that we have received valuable suggestions for the future of cooperation among democratic countries."
Ambassador Hsie's participation in this forum reaffirms Taiwan's stance on the international stage, highlighting the importance of unity and cooperation in the face of growing autocratic threats in various regions of the world.
