During the International Tourism Fair in Madrid (FITUR 2024), the World Travel & Tourism Council (WTTC) announced the formal inclusion of two new members into the organization.

In this way, Banreservas, the main bank of the Dominican Republic, and the Mexican state of Nayarit, renowned for its paradisiacal Pacific beaches, will be part of this global travel and tourism sector body.

Banreservas commenced its membership as an "Industry Partner," a category aimed at companies offering products and services to the travel and tourism sector, with a dedicated division for this industry, similar to other members such as Microsoft, Ant International, Google, and Accenture, among others.

"WTTC is the perfect platform to align efforts, generate impact, and gain visibility in favor of the growth and promotion of tourism in the Dominican Republic," said Samuel Pereyra, General Manager of Banreservas.

Pereyra explained that this strategic alliance will contribute to promoting the Dominican Republic as a tourist and investment destination, thereby fostering national development.

Meanwhile, Nayarit joins the 28 member destinations of the organization worldwide, including France, the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, Canada, Dubai, New York, California, Neom, Colombia, Puerto Rico, Quintana Roo, AlUla, South Africa, Turkey, Barcelona, Portugal, Seville, the Philippines, Thailand, Rwanda, among others.

Juan Enrique Suárez del Real, Secretary of Tourism of Nayarit, expressed gratitude for the distinction and noted that it is an honor for the state to belong to the principal global private tourism body.

Currently, the Mexican destination is one of the country's main tourist spots, offering a luxury product with boutique and high-end hotels.

WTTC brings together the CEOs of the 200 most important companies in the international tourism industry and is the only organization that encompasses key players from all segments of the sector, including airports, airlines, hotels, destinations, cruises, car rentals, travel agencies, OTAs, and tour operators, among others.
