The Icon of the Seas, the new jewel in Royal Caribbean's international fleet, arrives in Miami to set a milestone in the cruise industry. With a length of 1,198 feet, this giant on the water becomes the largest cruise ship in the world, surpassing all expectations.

Miami, January 10, 2024 - The Icon of the Seas, Royal Caribbean's latest addition, has arrived in the sunny city of Miami to officially inaugurate its sea voyages. This 20-deck colossus, delivered at the Meyer Turku shipyard in Turku, Finland, on November 27, 2023, has undergone rigorous regulatory inspections in Puerto Rico in recent weeks.

"We've been on the Icon for a few weeks during its journey to Miami. It's been a hectic few weeks finishing up the last of our construction. We're really starting stress tests at our venues to ensure that when our guests arrive, everything is perfect," expressed Jennifer Goswani, Director of Product Development at Royal Caribbean International.

This sea giant features 2,805 cabins and has the capacity to accommodate 5,610 guests and 2,350 crew members. Its presence is expected to generate around 43 billion dollars for the economy.

The Icon of the Seas surprises not only with its dimensions but also with its top-notch facilities. With seven pools and six water slides, Royal Caribbean claims that this ship hosts the tallest waterfall, the highest water slide, and the largest water park at sea.

The distinctive touch comes with The Hideaway, featuring the first infinity pool suspended over the sea, and Chill Island, with four of the ship's seven pools and an exclusive area for adults. Thrill Island offers extreme thrills with a 154-foot-high ropes course over the ocean, a FlowRider wave simulator, and a mini-golf course.

Travelers on board will enjoy eight themed neighborhoods and over 40 dining and bar options. The inaugural journey of the Icon of the Seas from PortMiami is scheduled for late January, offering adventures in the Eastern or Western Caribbean throughout the year.

In an exciting twist, it is revealed that football star Lionel Messi will be the godfather at the official inauguration of the Icon of the Seas. The eight-time Ballon d'Or winner and TIME Athlete of the Year will join the celebration of the ship's christening in Miami, marking the beginning of a new era of maritime vacations.

Icon of the Seas not only positions itself as the largest cruise ship in the world but as a unique and iconic experience that redefines the concept of luxury and fun on the high seas.
