Apple is holding its next big event in September to take the wraps off the iPhone 15, new Apple Watches, and more.

The iPhone 15 is on the horizon, and the iPhone 14 Pro Max has provided us with valuable insights into what to expect from Apple's upcoming flagship. The much-awaited unveiling is set for September 12, 2023, as confirmed by an official invite from Apple. The event will take place at Apple's Cupertino headquarters in California and will be live-streamed on their events website at 10 a.m. PT, 1 p.m. ET on the same day.

Anticipations are high for new Pro and Pro Max models equipped with the A17 Bionic chip, a titanium frame, enhanced camera capabilities, and potentially a transition to USB-C ports. The latter could replace the aging Lightning connection, necessitating a shift from proprietary Apple cables to certified USB-C cables. While a new Apple Watch is also in the pipeline, the changes are expected to be modest.

The iPhone 15 lineup will encompass four models. While predictions suggest a standard 6.1-inch iPhone 15 and a 6.7-inch iPhone 15 Plus, there's buzz about an "Ultra" designation for the highest-end models. This Ultra category might include premium upgrades like a Titanium-covered chassis.

The memory configurations could vary across these models, with the iPhone 15 Pro/Ultra potentially receiving an 8GB RAM boost, as per reports from Taiwanese research firm TrendForce. In terms of design, the iPhone 15 is likely to continue Apple's current design language, with the notable absence of a notch. Instead, a Dynamic Island concept might be incorporated, building on the higher-end iPhone 14 models.

Rumors have circulated about the possibility of solid-state buttons on the sides of the iPhone 15, which would function as mini trackpads. However, conflicting reports have surfaced, leaving this feature uncertain. As for pricing, no official figures are available, but speculations suggest the iPhone 15 Ultra could cost around $200 more than the iPhone 14 Pro Max.

One confirmed change is the adoption of USB-C due to EU regulations. While this would align Apple with USB-C standards, non-certified cables might experience limited charging and data transfer speeds. Moreover, the iPhone 15 models could support faster wireless and tethered charging, with reports indicating compatibility with up to 35W charging.

The upcoming iOS 17 operating system promises significant improvements, particularly in phone and video call features, as announced at WWDC 2023. Additionally, the iPhone 15's color palette is anticipated to offer new shades, while a potential periscope-style rear camera could enhance image stabilization and zoom capabilities.

Apple's A17 Bionic chip is expected to prioritize battery life and efficiency over raw performance. If the iPhone 15 Pro debuts with a 3nm processor, it would mark a significant advancement for Apple's chip technology. As for the event itself, although the date is still speculative, Apple's history suggests a mid-September announcement.
