Many Indian states eased coronavirus restrictions on Monday including the capital Delhi, where authorities allowed all shops and malls to open, as the number of new infections dropped to the lowest in more than two months.
Delhi reports 131 fresh Covid cases, lowest since Feb 22; positivity rate at 0.22%.

Continuing the declining trend in daily spike, Delhi on Monday reported 131 fresh cases of Covid-19 and 16 deaths due to the virus. The fresh spike of 131 cases in the last 24 hours is Delhi's lowest single-day jump since February 22.

Monday's toll of 16 fresh deaths is also Delhi's lowest single-day count of Covid fatalities since April 5.

The case positivity rate in Delhi currently stands at 0.22 per cent, which is also the lowest since February 21. Delhi's recovery rate has reached 98.03 per cent, while its death rate is at 1.74 per cent.

Delhi has so far reported 14,31,270 cases of Covid-19, 24,839 deaths due to the virus and 14,03,205 recoveries, including 355 discharges in the last 24 hours.

The city has 3,226 active cases of Covid-19 at present, the lowest active caseload it has seen since March 19.

Amid the declining daily Covid-19 cases, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Sunday announced further ease in Covid-related restrictions in the city. The chief minister announced the resumption of all economic activities except some that will remain prohibited and some that will continue in a restricted manner.

In a press briefing, CM Arvind Kejriwal said the odd-even rule for shops in markets and malls in the city will stop and from Monday, all shops will open between 10 am to 8 pm. Restaurants will be allowed to open at 50 per cent seating capacity.
