After international pop icon Rihanna and climate change activist Greta Thunberg created a storm on social media by extending their support to the ongoing farmers' stir in the country, US Vice-President Kamala Harris' niece, Meena Harris and former adult star Mia Khalifa too showed support by dropping tweets reacting to the agitation.

Expressing her outrage over the "internet shutdowns and paramilitary violence against farmer protesters", Meena Harris shared an image of a woman farmer with a placard that said, "stop killing farmers."

On Tuesday, international pop star Rihanna's tweet triggered a wave of support for protesting farmers with a number of global celebrities, activists and politicians expressing their solidarity with them. Khalifa too had shared a tweet, extending her support.

The government had criticized the tweets by Rihanna and other celebrities, saying facts on the issue must be ascertained before people rushing to comment on the issue, calling it "neither accurate nor responsible".

Khalifa, 27, took to Twitter again and shared a picture from a protest by a group of people, holding placards and posters of her, Rihanna and Swedish teen climate activist Greta Thunberg.
