Over 1,000 people have died in Spain due to the coronavirus; France's Macron warns race against pandemic has just begun.
At least 1,000 people have now died in Spain from the coronavirus, while the total number of infections in the country has reached almost 20,000.
Spain’s health ministry released figures on Friday recording that there are 19,980 people infected, with 1,141 admitted to the intensive care units and 1,002 dead.
Fernando Simón, the director of the Ministry’s Health Emergency Coordination Centre has warned that “the data is very likely to underestimate reality”.
The death toll from an outbreak of coronavirus in Italy has also risen in the last 24 hours to more than 3,400, overtaking the total number of deaths so far registered in China, officials said.
