This Tuesday a truck has rolled several people into an exclusive lane for pedestrians and bicycles in the lower Manhattan area. The act is being treated as a terrorist act, according to confirmed the mayor of New York, Bill de Basio, at a press conference

Police have explained that the FBI investigates the incident as an attack, and that they have arrested the driver of the vehicle. This is a rental truck from the company Home Depot that has invaded around three in the afternoon the bike and pedestrian lane of the West Side Highway, near the World Trade Center. Six people have died in the attack and two others on the way to the hospital.

The mayor of the city Bill de Basio has described as "cowardly act of terror" and has asked the Americans to pray for the victims. "This action wanted to break us, but New Yorkers are strong," said the mayor.

In a previous message, the NYPD has asked citizens to avoid passing through the Chambers Street with West. "It is expected that there will be a lot of emergency personnel in the area," he said. The authorities are asking people to continue with their normal life, but be alert. Today in New York the traditional Halloween parade takes place, bringing together thousands of people in the streets, and police have announced additional preventive measures.
