POMPANO BEACH, Fla. — Pompano Beach, a city on Florida's Atlantic coast, has published a weekend itinerary for the fall season that combines warm weather, beaches, water sports, dining and cultural events. The plan runs from Friday afternoon through Sunday.

Friday: pier and waterfront dinner

According to the destination's information, the itinerary begins at the Fisher Family Pier, a 900-foot structure over the Atlantic. Its fish-shaped end honors the pompano, the fish that gave the city its name. From there, visitors can walk to the Pompano Beach Fishing Village, an area of seafood restaurants and waterside bars.

The evening can include live music, a show at the Pompano Beach Cultural Center or a concert at The AMP. For trips that fall on the first weekend of the month between October and May, an alternative is Old Town Untapped, held the first Friday of each month with live music, local artists and food trucks.

Saturday: ocean, museum and historic district

Proximity to the Gulf Stream helps create conditions for offshore fishing and diving on reefs and shipwrecks, the material says. Kayak and paddleboard rentals are also available, along with five public golf courses.

Across from the Fishing Village is the Jellyfish Museum, described as the first U.S. attraction devoted entirely to jellyfish, with illuminated aquariums, marine life, science and art. In the afternoon, the Pompano Beach Water Taxi travels the Intracoastal Waterway, offering a different view of the city. A massage service aboard a private boat is also promoted.

In the evening, the plan shifts to Old Town, home to restaurants such as South Bar & Kitchen and The Vault, set in a historic bank building. The neighborhood also features public art, including the Galactic Bloom Space Plants sculptures and the Fire Fountain.

Sunday: brunch and local history

The weekend closes with brunch, a local Sunday tradition, and visits to the Kester Cottages Museum and the Sample-McDougald House, which cover the city's early history. For a more active finish, options include Topgolf, Harrah's Pompano Beach and city parks.

Getting around

The free Circuit shuttle connects the beachfront area. On weekends, an additional route links the Fishing Village with two stops near Old Town, so a car is not strictly necessary. Visitors are advised to check schedules and book boat charters in advance.
