Following the first Saint Lucia Showcase International, a catamaran journey to Soufrière offered the opportunity to experience one of the Caribbean’s most iconic landscapes from the sea, combining snorkeling, nature, gastronomy and spectacular views of Gros Piton and Petit Piton.

Some experiences allow you to visit a destination, while others allow you to truly experience it. Following our participation in the first Saint Lucia Showcase International, we had the opportunity to explore Saint Lucia’s coastline aboard a sailing catamaran, enjoying a sunny day that combined sailing, the Caribbean Sea, nature and gastronomy.

The journey began in Castries, the capital of Saint Lucia, heading south toward Soufrière. With the wind filling the sails and the Caribbean providing the backdrop, the coastline revealed its bays, beaches and lush tropical vegetation.

Along the way, there was time for a snorkeling stop, enjoying the Caribbean waters and marine life. Sailing to Soufrière is one of the experiences promoted by the Saint Lucia Tourism Authority, combining the coastal journey with opportunities to enjoy the sea.

The highlight came when the Pitons began to rise on the horizon. Gros Piton and Petit Piton are two spectacular volcanic formations towering above the Soufrière coastline and are among Saint Lucia’s most recognizable natural landmarks. The area was designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2004.

Seen from the catamaran, the landscape is extraordinary: the mountains appear to rise directly from the Caribbean. Gros Piton reaches approximately 770 meters, while Petit Piton stands at about 743 meters. The surrounding area also offers several ways to explore the landscape on land.

The experience continued in Soufrière with a visit to tourism properties located on the slopes of the mountains. One of them was Caille Blanc Villa & Hotel, a boutique property known for its spectacular views of the Pitons and the Caribbean.

Here, gastronomy became another highlight. The Pavilion Restaurant combines its culinary offering with a privileged setting, where the sea, tropical vegetation and the Pitons become part of the dining experience.

The day ended with one of those views that remain in your memory: the Pitons rising above the Caribbean beneath a clear sky, after a journey that brought together sailing, snorkeling, nature, hospitality and local flavors.

The experience was part of the activities following the first Saint Lucia Showcase International, which brought together media, travel agents, tour operators and tourism professionals from international markets.

A day to discover Saint Lucia from both sea and land, and to understand why the Pitons are much more than a postcard: they are at the heart of one of the Caribbean’s most extraordinary landscapes.
