Central America Travel Market 2025: Honduras Welcomes Business Leaders, Tour Operators, and International Media in San Pedro Sula
ABC MUNDIAL is already in Honduras to cover the (CATM 2025), the most important tourism industry event in the region, taking place from October 21 to 23, 2025, in San Pedro Sula.
The fair brings together official delegations, international buyers, tour operators, airlines, media outlets, and representatives from both the public and private sectors across Central America, establishing itself as a key platform to promote multi-destination tourism under a unified regional brand: Central America.
Pre-tours: Honduran Culture, Nature, and Hospitality
Ahead of the official opening, organizers have arranged several pre-tours for international media and tour operators, aimed at showcasing a taste of Honduras’ culture, cuisine, and identity.
On the first day, participants visited Lago de Yojoa, the largest lake in Honduras, situated approximately 700 meters above sea level in a volcanic basin. Surrounded by montane forests, the region is renowned for its extraordinary birdlife, waterfalls, caves, coffee plantations, and eco-lodges.
The tour continued to Parque Nacional Cerro Azul Meámbar (PANACAM), a protected area forming part of the Yojoa Biological Corridor. Here, visitors enjoyed interpretive hikes and observed the biodiversity that makes this zone one of Honduras’ most fascinating destinations for ecotourism and birdwatching.
Honduras: Tourism as an Engine of Development
For Honduras, tourism is a strategic sector to boost the economy, diversify destinations, and mitigate migration, both from rural areas to cities and abroad.
During the official welcome, organizers thanked attendees for “being part of the transformation and history of the country’s tourism development.” San Pedro Sula was chosen as the host city for its world-class hotel and event infrastructure, international air connectivity, and proximity to popular tourist destinations such as Tela, La Ceiba, Puerto Cortés, and the beaches of the Honduran Caribbean.
A Regional Event with Major Impact
CATM 2025 is organized by the (FEDECATUR) and the (CATA), with national leadership from the (IHT) and the (CANATURH).
The event will host over 80 international wholesalers from Europe, North America, Asia, and South America, along with 150 regional exhibitors—including airlines, hotel chains, and tour operators—and will generate more than 2,000 B2B business meetings.
Over three days, San Pedro Sula will become the hub of Central American tourism, reaffirming the region’s potential as a diverse, sustainable, and competitive destination in the global market.
