Chicago, IL – October 7, 2025 – Chicago has once again been named the Best Big City in the U.S. in the Condé Nast Traveler Readers’ Choice Awards, marking a record ninth consecutive year for this prestigious recognition. Over 750,000 votes were cast this year, affirming Chicago’s global appeal and reputation as a city that welcomes visitors from all backgrounds.

In the UK edition of the 2025 Condé Nast Traveller Readers’ Choice Awards, Chicago was also recognized as one of the friendliest cities in the world, the only U.S. city to earn this honor.

The award comes amid a record-breaking summer for Chicago hotels. Over 3.56 million hotel rooms were occupied during June, July, and August 2025, with revenues surpassing $948 million, exceeding all previous records.

Mayor Brandon Johnson highlighted the role of the city’s residents: “Chicago’s strength comes from its people, whose dedication and pride make visitors feel at home every day. Being recognized for a record ninth year is an unprecedented achievement.”
