Zemí Miches Resort: A Tribute to Taíno Culture in the Dominican Republic
In the heart of Playa Esmeralda, the Dominican Republic adds a new gem to its tourism portfolio with a hotel that redefines the all-inclusive luxury concept: Zemí Miches All Inclusive Resort, Curio Collection by Hilton.
During our visit, Hairo Galindez, the hotel’s Marketing Manager, said: “We are grateful to welcome you; you are the first visitors from Argentina to arrive at Zemí Miches, which is a great pleasure for us. This is a unique property in the Dominican Republic: it is the first all-inclusive Curio Collection hotel in the country, located in a very exclusive and pristine area like Playa Esmeralda.”
Inspired by Taíno Culture
The concept of Zemí pays homage to the Taínos, the island’s first inhabitants. “The entire hotel is inspired by Taíno culture, which is our greatest pride. The name ‘Zemí’ comes from the sacred figures in which the Taínos placed protection, healing, and power,” explains Galindez.
With 500 rooms across 28 categories, the resort offers everything from suites with tropical views to beachfront bungalows with private pools. The property is multigenerational, designed for both couples and families, with connecting rooms and spaces adapted to different needs.
Dominican Hospitality and Warmth
The experience at Zemí Miches stands out not only for its architecture and design but also for the friendliness and hospitality of its management and staff, who welcomed our visit with professionalism and warmth. From the personalized welcome gestures prepared by General Manager Manuela Fahringer and her team to custom gifts, every detail reinforces the service philosophy that defines this resort.
Signature Cuisine: A Journey Through Taíno Flavors
The resort’s culinary offering is another highlight. Led by Chef Frankelly Castillo, it features 13 dining venues ranging from fine Dominican cuisine to international flavors.
The dinner we enjoyed at Boba, with live Thai cooking, was just a glimpse of the richness and variety that characterize the resort’s gastronomic experience.
At the flagship restaurant Toa, Taíno culture is expressed through a culinary experience that elevates local ingredients such as tubers, vegetables, and proteins into dishes that combine tradition and fine dining. “Our goal is to celebrate our culture through gastronomy, bringing it to a contemporary expression,” Castillo explains.
