Royal Caribbean International has announced that the legendary singer Diana Ross will be the official Godmother of the Star of the Seas, the new and groundbreaking ship from the Icon Class, set to debut in August 2025 from Port Canaveral (Orlando), Florida. The acclaimed artist will headline the ship’s naming ceremony, marking the beginning of a new era in unforgettable family vacations.

The maritime tradition of naming a Godmother carries deep symbolism, as she is entrusted with bestowing protection and good fortune upon the ship, its crew, and its future guests. Diana Ross, whose musical career has inspired generations, will take part in this special ceremony at the stunning AquaTheater, located within the modern AquaDome neighborhood, surrounded by panoramic ocean views.

"I am truly honored to join the Royal Caribbean family. This feels like a natural continuation of my journey, as Godmother of Star of the Seas," said Diana Ross.

The Star of the Seas, designed to redefine family vacations, blends the best of resorts, theme parks, and beach getaways. On board, travelers will enjoy:

  • Eight themed neighborhoods
  • Category 6, the largest water park at sea
  • Seven unique pools
  • Over 40 dining venues and bars, including the elegant Lincoln Park Supper Club
  • World-class entertainment, such as the “Back to the Future” musical

Michael Bayley, President and CEO of Royal Caribbean, stated:

"We couldn’t imagine a more fitting Godmother than Diana Ross. Her music has united generations, and her spirit celebrates life—just like the experiences we deliver onboard."

The Star of the Seas will sail 7-night Eastern and Western Caribbean itineraries, stopping at destinations such as the exclusive Perfect Day at CocoCay in The Bahamas. Royal Caribbean continues to expand its destination portfolio with new experiences like:

  • Royal Beach Club Paradise Island (December 2025)
  • Royal Beach Club Cozumel (2026)
  • Perfect Day Mexico (Fall 2027)

Diana Ross’s participation marks an emotional and symbolic milestone for Royal Caribbean, reinforcing its commitment to delivering the best family vacations in the world.
