Orlando, known as the Theme Park Capital of the World, celebrated a major tourism milestone in 2024, welcoming 75.3 million visitors — a 1.8% increase over 2023, according to Visit Orlando, the official tourism association for the destination.

Domestic travel remained the backbone of Orlando’s success, with 68.8 million domestic visitors, up 1.4%, fueled by both day trippers and overnight non-hotel stays. But the real standout was the robust recovery in international travel, which grew by 5.9% to reach 6.5 million international visitors — a strong signal that Orlando’s global appeal is roaring back post-pandemic.

“It’s only fitting that we share this exciting news during National Travel & Tourism Week,” said Casandra Matej, President and CEO of Visit Orlando. “Every year, we start at zero visitors, and through strategic marketing and our world-class experiences, we bring in millions. These travelers power our economy, support local businesses, create jobs, and help sustain an exceptional quality of life in Orlando.”

Canada Leads the Way Among International Markets

Canada maintained its position as Orlando’s top international source market, with 1.29 million visitors in 2024 — up 2.7% from 2023, setting a new record for the second consecutive year. The U.K., Brazil, Mexico, and Colombia rounded out the top five international markets. Notably, Colombia saw the biggest percentage jump, rising 13.6% year-over-year.

Orlando’s Visitor Breakdown (2024):

  • Domestic leisure travelers: 81%
  • Domestic business travelers: 10%
  • International travelers: 9%
  • Group meetings segment: Up 3.9% to 5.6 million visitors

New Theme Parks and Attractions Fuel Growth

Orlando’s success is also fueled by the constant evolution of its offerings. This summer, the city is set to open its first new theme park in 25 years, alongside major sporting events and a wave of new attractions, restaurants, and entertainment options. These developments continue to position Orlando as a must-visit destination for travelers seeking both iconic experiences and fresh adventures.
