FIT 2024: St. Martin establishes itself as an attractive destination for Latin American travelers
The St. Martin Tourism Office had a prominent participation at the 2024 Latin American International Tourism Fair (FIT), an event that surpassed 135,000 visitors this year, according to data provided by the organization. During the four days of the fair, the St. Martin booth was a key meeting point for both the general public and tourism professionals.
Priscillia Wachter, Deputy General Director of the St. Martin Tourism Office, and Christopher Rodriguez, Tourism Advisor of the same entity, led the activities at the booth, welcoming a large number of visitors. During the first two days, aimed at the general public, and the last two days, geared towards professionals, the presence of the Caribbean destination caught the attention of Argentine visitors.
Christopher Rodriguez shared his impressions of the fair: "For me, it has been a great surprise because we received so many people. The first two days with direct customers were very interesting, almost all Argentines know and have information about St. Martin, which makes our work much easier. They asked many questions about how to get there, the types of hotels, the restaurants, and whether the hotels offer all-inclusive services or not."
Rodriguez also highlighted the importance of travel agents in promoting the destination. "We provided mini training sessions for travel agents so they could sell St. Martin with more confidence and knowledge. Additionally, we exchanged contact information to stay in communication and work together in the future," he explained.
One advantage during the fair was the Spanish language proficiency of the St. Martin representatives, which facilitated dialogue with Argentine visitors. "The ability to speak Spanish has been a great help because it improves communication, especially with the general public who are not used to speaking English or French," Rodriguez commented.
The tourism advisor emphasized that participating in FIT 2024 has been very positive, not only because of the number of appointments they had during the fair but also because of the business opportunities that emerged throughout the event. "This year, 2024, is a key year for us, in which we establish a starting point to grow in the Argentine market," he concluded.
