Royal Caribbean has decided to capitalize on the trend of short cruises with its new ship, which it has dubbed "the biggest weekend in the world" and "the ultimate short getaway." Utopia is the first cruise of its kind to debut with 3-night weekend escapes and 4-night weekday escapes.

The second largest cruise ship in the world debuts with short trips. The new vacation cruise will officially launch on Friday, July 19, with 3-night weekend trips and 4-night weekday trips to the Bahamas. Royal Caribbean's Utopia of the Seas, one of the two largest cruise ships in the world alongside its twin, Icon of the Seas, will set sail next week from Port Canaveral, Florida, aiming to offer "weekend energy."

This strategy breaks from the tradition of major cruise lines, which typically reserve their largest and newest ships for week-long voyages and use older, smaller ships for shorter trips.

Utopia of the Seas boasts a gross tonnage of 236,680 tons, just 973 tons more than its sister ship, Wonder of the Seas, now the third-largest ship in the world. Measuring 1,188 feet in length, with 18 decks and a capacity for 5,668 passengers at double occupancy, Utopia offers an unparalleled experience. It features 21 restaurants, five pools, two casinos, and an ice skating rink, ensuring a wide variety of entertainment and relaxation options for all tastes.

Royal Caribbean International's Utopia of the Seas arrived at Port Canaveral (Orlando), Florida, just days before its official debut on Friday, July 19. This ultimate short getaway will bring weekend energy to every day of the week, with 3-night weekend escapes and 4-night weekday escapes to Royal Caribbean’s award-winning private island, Perfect Day at CocoCay, and Nassau in the Bahamas.

Utopia of the Seas’ first appearance at Port Canaveral was met with great enthusiasm. More than 2,000 crew members celebrated on Utopia's vibrant Caribbean pool deck, enjoying attractions like the longest dry slide at sea, The Ultimate Abyss, and the exclusive FlowRider surf simulator. The celebration will continue with GRAMMY-winning artist and songwriter Meghan Trainor, who will be Utopia’s godmother, taking center stage to officially name the new cruise ship and perform several of her hits before the 3- and 4-night escapes begin.

Utopia brings an unmatched weekend energy to every day of the week, with over 40 ways to dine, drink, and have fun. Among the options are a series of exclusive Utopia parties, two casinos, a new Caribbean tiki bar called The Pesky Parrot, and an immersive dining experience in a train car, Royal Railway – Utopia Station. Additionally, it features more pools than there are days to count, spectacular entertainment in the air, on ice, in water, and on stage, and many more activities at Perfect Day at CocoCay.
