St. Pete has become a little more colorful over the last nine days. Between October 13th and 22nd, a total of 18 new murals were erected on once monotonous or uninteresting exterior walls, marking the main event of the city's 9th annual SHINE Mural Festival.

A blend of local, national, and international artists descended upon the downtown area, leaving their mark with results ranging from abstract to impressionistic, realistic, and graffiti-style.

The annual SHINE Mural Festival illuminates and celebrates the power of art in public spaces. These murals are not only unique pieces of art but also aid in revitalizing areas, inspiring dialogue, and uniting the community. By using walls and streets as canvases, SHINE transforms St. Pete into a world-class outdoor gallery. Prominent contemporary local, national, and international artists create these murals. Produced by the St. Petersburg Arts Alliance, SHINE has produced over 100 murals in the downtown area and surrounding arts districts since 2015.

The SHINE Mural Festival is also the first in the world to have an accessible audio tour and the technology to instantly connect mural viewers to online content via PixelStix. Other mural organizations nationwide now utilize this interactive technology.

In addition to beautifying the city, bike or walking tours to see the various murals in the city are another tourist attraction promoted by Visit St. Pete Clearwater.
