The World Expo 2030 is scheduled from October 1, 2030, to March 31, 2031, in Riyadh, the capital of Saudi Arabia, aligning with the Saudi government's Vision 2030 plan. Gloria Guevara, Advisor to the Minister of Tourism, Ahmed Al Khateeb, revealed the challenges, objectives, and significance of this designation, enhancing the plan as a tourist destination.

In a conversation with Latin American media, in which ABC MUNDIAL participated, Gloria Guevara Manzo, Chief Advisor to the Minister of Tourism of Saudi Arabia, shared her perspective on the designation of Riyadh as the chosen venue for the World Expo 2030, along with the investment objectives and alignment with the country's Vision 2030 plan.

"This will be the largest and most sustainable Expo ever held, and the occasion represents a significant recognition for a nation that continuously invests in travel and tourism like no other, while possessing an inspiring and exemplary long-term vision. Under the theme 'The era of change: together for a foresighted tomorrow,' the world will experience the warmth and hospitality of the Arabs, their ancient culture, and their astonishing heritage," stated Guevara.

With the World Expo, Saudi Arabia expects to welcome over 40 million visitors over six months, becoming a cultural epicenter. As the world's leading exporter of crude oil, the country has prioritized economic diversification.

"The World Expo 2030 will be a significant window for promoting travel and tourism, always with a focus on sustainability," emphasized Guevara. Within the Vision 2030 plan, Saudi Arabia has set ambitious goals, including receiving 100 million tourists, generating 1 million jobs, and contributing 10% to the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) in the tourism sector.

Guevara highlighted that results have exceeded expectations, with 16.7 million international visitors in the last year. The goal of 25 million for this year appears to be achieved ahead of schedule. Due to these achievements, the Minister has raised the target for 2030 to 150 million visitors, representing a 50% growth.

The advisor emphasized the historical significance of being the host of Expo 2030, sharing that Saudi Arabia achieved a milestone by securing 119 favorable votes in the first round of voting in Paris. This success, unprecedented in history, underscores the international trust and support towards the country.

Regarding the venue, Guevara revealed that it will be close to the airport under construction, which will accommodate 120 million passengers and have a metro stop. With an investment of 92 billion dollars, Riyadh will transform rapidly, becoming the venue not only for one but possibly up to 10 expos.

In commitment to sustainability, Guevara announced plans to organize the first Universal Expo with negative carbon emissions. With these initiatives, Saudi Arabia aims to position itself as a global leader in sustainable tourism and economic development.
