Kim Jong-un will conduct a nuclear missile test “at any moment” as a “warning shot” to Donald Trump, it is claimed

North Korea has issued an indirect warning to President-elect Donald Trump about nuclear weapons, a South Korean news agency reports.

North Korea's main newspaper Rondong Sinmun did not reference President-elect Donald Trump's victory specifically, but warned that the incoming administration would have to deal with North Korea as a nuclear power.

"Washington's hope for North Korea's denuclearization is an outdated illusion," Rodong Sinmun said in a commentary.

The paper knocked the Obama administration's "strategic patience" policy on North Korea, saying it had only made the situation with the North Korean state worse.

North Korean experts noted though the country may take a wait-and-see approach on more testing until it garners a greater sense of what Trump's policies toward North Korea may look like.
"North Korea would seek to have dialogue with Washington as long as the next U.S. administration does not take a hawkish stance toward the North's nuclear issue," Kim Dong Yup, a professor at the Institute for Far East Studies of Kyungnam University, said.
