Not many smartphone users manage to fit the entire skyscraper into their frame, but Dubai’s iconic Burj Khalifa has still been named the third most popular place in the world to snap a selfie
Tourist site AttractionTix analysed social media to find mentions of travel hotspots alongside the word ‘selfie’, and compiled a list of the favourite places to pose for a self-portrait.
With 8,860 selfies, the world’s tallest building came in third – ahead of London’s Big Ben and the Colosseum in Rome.
Simon Applebaum, consumer marketing director at AttractionTix, said: “Selfies are the standard thing to do nowadays at an attraction.
“It was interesting to see that the Burj Khalifa, one of the world’s newest skyscrapers, beat sites with hundreds of years of history.”
And it’s not just your Average Joe that wants a piece of the Burj either – actress Sarah Jessica Parker was “begged” by a friend to use the soaring skyscraper to help promote the Sex and the City star’s new line of shoes recently.
