A truck bomb has ripped through a crowded market in Iraq's capital, Baghdad, leaving at least 60 people dead. More than 150 were wounded, and 17 are missing.

The Islamic State militant group has claimed responsibility for it.

The explosives-laden truck went off early on Thursday morning. The market is in a predominantly Shia Muslim neighborhood in northeastern Baghdad.

The Islamic State group claimed on the Internet that it targeted a gathering place of Shias.

The group carried out a similar car bomb attack at a market in a province near Baghdad on Monday, killing more than 40 people.
Iraqis are increasingly critical of the government for its failure to contain terrorism. Frequent power outages are adding to frustration. That partly comes from lack of funds due to the ballooning cost of fighting the militant group.
