Members of Beijing 2022 Olympic Winter Games bid delegation celebrate after Beijing won the bid at the 128th International Olympic Committee session in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia
The International Olympic Committee has chosen Beijing as the host of the 2022 Winter Games.
Beijing beat the Kazakh city of Almaty in a vote by IOC members at their general meeting in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, on Friday.
The 2 cities were the only candidates.
The Chinese capital will become the first city to host both summer and winter Olympics.
It will also be the first time since 1994 that winter games will be held in the same region for 2 consecutive times.
The South Korean city of Pyeongchang is the host of the 2018 games.
